What are the classifications of glazed resistors?

Resistance is the ability of a substance to block the flow of electrons, and glazed resistance is a device that has a certain resistance to current. For convenience, resistors are commonly referred to as resistors.

Common types of resistors

1. Color ring resistor

Color ring resistance refers to the use of different color rings on its surface to indicate the resistance value and other parameters of the glazed resistor. Commonly used are 4-color ring and 5-color ring resistors. For a four loop resistor, the first three loops represent resistance, and the last loop represents error. For a 5-ring resistor, the first four rings represent the resistance, and the last ring represents the error. In a color ring resistor, the color ring near one end of the resistor is the first ring, and the color ring with a more natural resistance is the second ring. Because only the gold and silver rings represent errors, any gold or silver ring must be the final ring.

2. Surface mount resistor

SMT resistors, also known as chip resistors, are surface mounted glazed resistors. Surface mount resistors come in two shapes: rectangular and circular. The commonly used surface mount resistors are small black squares with silver white needle solder on both sides. Surface mount resistors have the characteristics of small size, light weight, stable electrical performance, high reliability, low assembly cost, high mechanical strength, and superior high-frequency characteristics.

3. Cement resistor

Cement resistor is a type of wire wound resistor, which is surrounded by non alkaline heat-resistant ceramics and fixed on the outside with corrosion-resistant, heat-resistant, and moisture resistant materials. In general, the external filling material is cement, hence it is called cement resistance. Cement resistors have the characteristics of high resistance power, good heat dissipation, good stability, and impact resistance. Commonly used in overcurrent detection, protection circuits, and audio power amplification circuits.

4. Obstacle removal

Resistors, also known as network resistors, are made by packaging several resistors together in a certain order to repel glazed resistors. Exhaust resistance is divided into direct insertion type and surface mount type. Inline resistors typically have a common endpoint represented by a small white dot on their surface. The common nested types include A-i type, with a total of 9 different models, each with a unique internal circuit.

5. Insurance resistor

Insurance resistor, also known as fuse resistor. Fuse resistors play a dual role as fuses and glazed resistors in circuits, mainly used in power output circuits. Insurance resistance is generally low in resistance and power. When a short circuit fault occurs in the circuit, the circuit will overcurrent, and the temperature of the fuse resistor will quickly rise. At this time, the resistor will be heated and melted to provide protection.

6. Sensitive resistors

The resistance value of a sensitive resistor will vary with changes in external environmental factors. Usually divided into four categories:

Photoresistor: When a photoresistor is exposed to light, its resistance value decreases. The resistance of photoresistors under illumination is generally greater than 1500 Ω;

NTC thermistor: resistance decreases with increasing temperature;

PTC sensitive resistor: resistance increases with temperature;

Varistor: When the voltage on the varistor reaches a certain critical value, its resistance drops sharply. Follow Sichuang Electric to learn more about glazed resistors.
